Training

Whether you have a weanling, yearling or a 2 year old that you need started from the beginning or an older horse that just needs a "tune up", Sturgeon Family Farms can accommodate your needs. 

We pride ourselves in being able to make quiet, easy going, gentle horses.

Our staff is extremely patient and safety conscious.  The base rate for training is $15 per day which includes full board.

HORSE BOARDING RATES & OPTIONS

Our new facility is one of the areas most unique and we offer a variety of boarding options.  All of the facilities have been designed and constructed with safety and convenience in mind.

Community Pasture $3.00 Per Day (Self-Care)

This includes a safe, securely fenced grass pasture of sufficient size (approximately 5 acres) to accommodate the forage requirements of no more than 5 horses per pasture. Supplemental grass hay will be provided during the seasons when natural forage growth is inadequate. Clean, fresh, free choice water is available at all times. No other supplemental feed will be provided.

Community Pasture w/ Supplemental Feed & Care $6.00 Per Day

This includes a safe, securely fenced grass pasture of sufficient size (approximately 5 acres) to accommodate the forage requirements of no more than 5 horses per pasture. Supplemental grass hay will be provided during the seasons when natural forage growth is inadequate. Clean, fresh, free choice water is available at all times. A nutritionally balanced, 12-14% C.P. supplemental feed will be provided and fed daily at a rate of 1% of your horse’s body weight.

Private Run w/ Shelter & Feed/Tack Storage $7.00 Per Day (Self-Care)

This includes a safe, securely fenced run of sufficient size (approximately 20’ X 40’) to accommodate one mature horse along with a 10’ X 10’ shelter and enclosed secure feed/tack storage area. Clean, fresh, free choice water is available at all times. Horse owner is responsible for supplemental feed, hay and care of their horse. Boarders must sign a 12-month agreement on the shelter & storage.

Private Run w/ Shelter, Tack Storage, Supplemental Feed & Care $9.00 Per Day

This includes a safe, securely fenced run of sufficient size (approximately 20’ X 40’) to accommodate one mature horse along with a 10’ X 10’ shelter and enclosed secure tack storage area. Clean, fresh, free choice water is available at all times. Supplemental grass hay will be fed and a nutritionally balanced, 12-14%  C.P. supplemental feed will be provided and fed daily at a rate of 1% of your horse’s body weight. Boarders must sign a 12-month agreement on the shelter & storage. 

12’ X 12’ Box Stall w/Tack Storage, Supplemental Feed, Bedding & Care $15.00 Per Day   Stall availability is limited, pre-notification required.

This includes a safe, secure 12’ X 12’ box stall located in the Show Horse Barn. Sufficient space will also be provided in tack room for horse owner’s tack storage. Clean, fresh, water is available at all times. Supplemental grass hay will be fed and a nutritionally balanced, 12-14% C.P. supplemental feed will be provided and fed daily at a rate of 1% of your horse’s body weight. Wood shavings for stall bedding will be provided along with daily stall cleaning and horse turn out.

Feed, Hay, Shavings – Market Price

Trailer Parking - $1.50 per day ($15.00 minimum) or $30.00 per month

Transportation & Trailer Rental – Inquire on an individual basis.

Any option that includes supplemental feed provided by Sturgeon Family Farms, will be a nutritionally balanced ration that will meet the basic nutrient requirements of a mature 1,000 pound horse doing light to moderate work. Any additional requirements or needs can be added at cost.

 All horses must have a current (12 months) negative coggins test record and verification of the following minimum immunizations within the past 12 months: West Nile, Equine Influenza, East, West & Venezuela Encephalomyelitis, Rhinopneumonitis and Tetanus.

All boarders will have access to use of round pens, riding arena, walker, wash racks and designated trail riding areas. Boarders will be responsible for any damage or destruction of the aforementioned items, equipment or areas.

Riding Lessons

Our Riding Lesson Program primarily involves beginner youth and amateur adults that want to learn basic horsemanship skills.  Safety is first and foremost in this program and begins with basic ground work from how to safely catch & halter a horse, to grooming, saddling & bridling, to ultimately being able to confidently ride a horse at all three basic gates (walk, trot, lope).  Each Lesson Program is Individualized based on your personal goals.

Rates:         $35 per hour for individual lesson.

                   $50 per hour for group lesson (3-5 people)

You are welcome to bring your own horse or use one of our seasoned lesson horses.

Marketing

The Sturgeon Family Farms Marketing Programs can be customized to fit your individual needs.  The basic and most common program is $300.00 plus 15% of the sale price.  The $300 includes 30 days of boarding, grooming, sales prep, digital photographs & video, internet ad placement on 4 different popular Horse Sales Web Sites, sale flyer preparation & sale promotion.  After 30 days, the applicable Boarding Rate applies & sales promotion efforts are continued for 15% of sale price.
